Beginning in Kiboga to the North West of Lake Victoria, during the day the team ran Pastors seminars and discipleship training and in the evenings they ran crusades and saw many people committing their lives to Jesus, one of whom was a lady involved in witchcraft who was allegedly responsible for the deaths of many local children. As a result of this sister’s dramatic conversion, since the team left we have heard that others have followed suit and the area has seen a real change in spiritual climate. This is following on from the visit Dry Bones Trust made to the area in October 2008 which also saw many surrender their lives to the Lord, a result of which was a church being planted that is now flourishing which is based in what was once the home of the local witchdoctor but is now a redeemed building being used to house the body of Christ. |

During that week there was an incident outside a local café where the police, in order to regain control of a situation involving some bikers discharged their firearms leaving all around no choice but to dive into whatever shops they were near and cower on the floor. The following week the team spent in the district of Mayuge in a village called Katonte to the East of the country. This was a much more rural area than Kiboga but the response was none the less exciting. God had promised the team that He would be calling people and they would respond and no where was this more evident than at a local eatery where the team were casually taking lunch one day when a conversation between one of the team and a staff member led to seven people surrendering their lives to the Lord. The evening crusades also received a fantastic response with about eighty people making commitments to Jesus which were then followed up by local Pastors and as the Holy Spirit came in power, many people were healed.

The team were hosted by Bishop Gerald Kwitegereza, director of Shalom Revival Ministries International and founder of the Alpha Orphanage Project which rescues children from the largest slum area in Uganda the parents of whom were often the victims of HIV/AIDS. These children are placed in foster families from local churches, their clothing food and education are funded by the project and so far 3 of these “Alpha Orphans” are now doing well in university. These children are being given a future and a hope the like of which their parents never knew. The team were able to help in a small way financially by blessing some of the schools with books, stationary and of course a football but needless to say the project continues to be badly in need of finance as there are always more children who need their help.
